Not restored -
A bit away from the tourist site (and free), is an unrestored part of the wall. Of course it was made with localy available materials and in this part that is not the perhaps typical granite but just rocks (inside) and mud with straw (outside). Historians think the earliest walls were built as early as 700 B.C. but the wall as we know it was built arount 200 B.C. Since then it has often been repaired and added to but most of it is credit to emperor Qin Shi Huang.
