As I may have mentioned, Uzbeklistan is a police state. They are everywhere. In city centers litteraly on every corner of the street. Someone joked they put them there instead of trees. It has to be said; Tashkent is truly a green city...
The annoying thing here is that the government wants you to register in a hotel where ever you go. This makes Couchsurfing, and therefor mingling with the locals, very difficult. Also because it is not legal to host a foreigner so those doing it can get in trouble. I am very grateful to my host Maksim here who took me in so kindly. We got to a state where I hung out in his house all day and when they went to bed I would ride to a hotel, pick up the registration-slip, sleep, have breakfast and then ride back to Max. It was rediculous.
